Muskogee Regional Medical Center (MRMC) recently announced that the Eastern Oklahoma health system changed its name from Muskogee Regional Medical Center to EASTAR Health System. The name change is effective immediately. This new system includes the former Muskogee Community Hospital, which mergged with Muskogee Regional on July 1, 2012.
“We are excited and proud of the new name,” said Kevin Fowler, CEO of EASTAR Health System. “EASTAR, which is symbolic of our new, unified health system, accomplishes the goal of creating a new identity that honors the past of both Muskogee Regional Medical Center and Muskogee Community Hospital and reflects the future we want to build together in order to become the ultimate healthcare destination for the people of our region.”
The first part of “EASTAR” connotes MRMC’s roots in Eastern Oklahoma. The second part of the name – “star” – is reflective of our role as guiding lights and sources of comfort for our patients, their loved ones, and community members who look to us for light as they are challenged with health issues.
Together, the combined words – “EASTAR” – carry a promise of being a guiding light for quality healthcare in Eastern Oklahoma.
Additionally, the new system has its own colors, symbolic of who we are today. The green is because we are in Green Country – a region of Oklahoma that’s known for its greenery, something that distinguishes us from the rest of the state. The reddish brown, a very important color in Oklahoma, is modeled after the star design on our state seal. It is a color that we see throughout the state because of its association to our state rock – The Rose Rock.
Finally, the state motto is “Labor conquers all things.” At EASTAR, we are rolling up our sleeves and doing what is necessary to take care of our community. Our patients always have been – and always will be – our number one priority.
“The new name supports our vision of creating a comprehensive healthcare system that better positions us to succeed as the leading provider of care in our region for generations to come,” said Kevin Fowler.
The placement of the new name on signage and hospital materials will continue to occur over the coming weeks. For more information about EASTAR Health, please visit www.EastarHealth.com.
